Infrastructure & Platform Operations

Most organisations have more data than they can use. The bottleneck is rarely storage — it is the architecture connecting raw data to the people and systems that need to act on it. We design and operate modern data platforms on AWS that close that gap: from ingestion and transformation through to analytics, reporting, and machine learning.

What We Do

Data Lake Architecture

The foundation of a modern data platform is a well-governed data lake. We build on Amazon S3 and AWS Lake Formation — a scalable, durable, and cost-effective storage layer with fine-grained access controls, data cataloguing, and cross-account sharing built in. Data is organised by domain, classified by sensitivity, and made queryable without needing to move it first.

Data Ingestion Pipelines

Data arrives from many sources at different speeds. We design ingestion pipelines for both batch and streaming workloads. For event-driven and real-time data, Amazon Kinesis Data Streams and Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka handle high-throughput ingestion with low latency. For batch and scheduled loads, AWS Database Migration Service and custom Glue connectors bring data from relational databases, SaaS platforms, and external APIs into your lake reliably.

Transformation and Cataloguing

Raw data is rarely analysis-ready. AWS Glue provides a serverless ETL environment where transformation logic is defined in code, version-controlled, and executed on a schedule or triggered by new data arrivals. The Glue Data Catalog maintains a central inventory of your datasets — schemas, partitions, and lineage — so analysts and data scientists can discover and trust what is available.

Analytics and Querying

We configure the analytical layer to match your query patterns and team capabilities. Amazon Athena enables ad hoc SQL queries directly against your S3 data lake with no infrastructure to manage. Amazon Redshift provides a petabyte-scale data warehouse for complex analytical workloads requiring consistent, fast performance. Both are integrated with your data catalog and access control framework.

Dashboards and Business Intelligence

Data platforms only create value when non-technical stakeholders can access insights. We implement Amazon Quick Sight for operational and executive dashboards — connected directly to Redshift, Athena, and other data sources, with row-level security ensuring each team sees only the data they are authorised to see.

Why It Matters

A data platform that teams trust and actually use is a competitive advantage. One that is ungoverned, poorly documented, and inconsistently secured is a liability. The difference lies in the architecture decisions made at the beginning, not the tools selected.
